In this time around for Garden Cleanup, I worked on 2 things. One was Clearing out the wood and trash from the pathway by the Shed, and taking out the weeds in the garden area in the parking lot. First off, on day one I worked on clearing the old wooden walkway, and other wood/trash that was around the garden area. Then I stacked it in a wheel barrow and rode it over to the trash cans. Then I unloaded the wood trash into the bin, and headed back to the garden. Then Nathan, and I moved a door out of the way and a bag of sand. These tasks were important because it made the garden area more clear, and easier to function and work with without wooden scraps and debris. On the second day, I went out with a few others and took out weeds in the parking lot garden. The weeds, if left alone can get out of hand and if grown and spread enough, can harm the plants that are there. So we took some gloves, and carefully pulled weeds out individually, making sure to pull from the top so all the roots would come out with it. After we would put them into buckets, and when we finished we brought it back to the people building the compost piles. This was important because weeding outside prevents the plants being harmed, and the gardeners coming out with toxic chemicals and spraying them, which sometimes gets on the plants and can kill them or harm them.
