Garden Clean up
For my ESLP project I chose to do the Garden clean up. I was assigned, with a few other people, to work on the compost pile. We started off by using the big shovel and the pitch fork. We had to build the compost pile from the ground up in the wooden area provided, and build it in layers. The first layer consisted of weeds and minimal sticks, to allow air to flow. The second layer is milch dirt. We had to evenly distribute the milch over the layer of sticks. The third and final layer was a light amount of regular dirt. After we would drag the hose over and thoroughly water the layer. We would repeat this process until we used all the milch and weeds. The purpose of a compost pile is to have lots of bacteria to break down slowly over time, this happens when the moisture is trapped in the layers of the layers in the pile of compost. We did a total of two hours, in two days, 1 hour each day. When we were finished our pile was a few feet above the ground, like a large mound, and very wet.
