As a part of garden clean up, I pulled out extra grass in the pathway between the plants to make the area look more neat and clean. I also pulled out extra grass on the edges outside of the boxes the plants were in. The grass that I pulled out was placed on extra grass growing next to the plants to reduce the competition. The grass that was pulled out can cover the grass growing next to the plant and can kill it by "suffocating" it. It will block sunlight from hitting the grass so the grass won't be able to grow. Therefore, the Brassica Oleracea plants have a better chance and can more easily get the nutrients they need to grow. |
