Garden Cleanup #4 - Jimena Rojas

This garden cleanup I helped by watering the plants that were just planted. It was cool to see the plants absorbing the water very quickly. I also helped my trimming the dead plants. There were lots of dead plants because it hasn’t rained much and it doesn’t get watered often. I liked doing garden cleanup because I felt very useful and it felt good to do something good for the environment.  I also helped by putting the mulch in the chicken coop. It was nice to know that I had a part in helping the garden and the chicken coop.

My partner and I did garden clean up.Our work was to make a compost with the organic fertilizer. The first step we did was to look for some plants to put in the compost, after having had some plants, we added a little of the land that was still being made, after that we put a broken wooden shovel and at the end of that we added the water. This was the process we followed to achieve the compost.

This is one of the pictures of the gardens we were in and we cleaned all the gardens in the school in around 20 minutes to clean up everything because there was a lot f trash

This was i was transferring tanbark into the chicken coops and the whole inner garden. we also picked all the weeds in the back and it took an hour to get all the tanbark into the cages and spread it. we also got branches of the rosemary and put it into a pot and watered it with the help of you(Mr Bursch) and made a new plant for the garden.

ESLP Garden Cleanups Will Peltz

   For this semester me and my friend decided to do garden cleanups. We came for cleanups on two separate days for one hour each day. On each day we pulled out the hose and hooked it up. We then supplied helpful H2O to the plants and cleaned off the bricks. We also helped with the chickens and fed them. Then Andrew asked us to dig some holes for some trees, though we needed a bit of help removing a big rock that was giving us grief. Yotam has some pictures of our work (I do not own a cellular device).

Hingano garden clean up #3

Day one:
 The first day of garden clean up for the 3rd time we
as in Hingano,Bobby,Jovanni and Angel. What we did was we went around
around the campus and look for trash. we picked them up for an hour or so.
I enjoy this because I can do two things at the same time one of the things is hang out with my friends, and two is help out the environment. This is why I really like garden clean up. I hope I can do this again sometime. cleaning up is very important to me because I don't like to see trash on the floor. Seeing trash on the floor makes me feel like people in the society don't care about their surroundings. This is what me and my Friends did for our first day of garden clean up #3.

Day 2:

The first day was easy, but the next day was more work then the first day. That day Me and my friend Jovanni had to take some of the tan barks to the chicken coop. we did that for at least an hour and five Min's.We took it to the coop and Jovanni was the one to spread it out. We always switch after every 15 Min's. We traded off from spreading out the tan barks and getting the tan bark and dropping it off. This was really fun because we get to talk, play music and helping out the chickens. That day was the best garden clean up day I ever had since the fist day I started the clean up. This was the second thing I have done for the second day.


                                                                                                                                                                                                                           

DAY 3: 

What I did for the last day of garden clean up is the same thing  we did for the second day. I did it for an hour. The same thing was that  I had to take the tan barks to the chicken coop. It was harder than the second day because it was hotter. It was a lot of work but, it was worth it because  the chickens in their place they stay in to be as new as it can be. This was what I did for the last day of Garden clean up.

Day One : The first day of garden clean up was fun because i always get to do it with my friends and other classmates. We got to walk around to the gardens on school and fix them up from any trash. This makes the school look more neat and i also get my credit while i do this. This wasn't the first time i have done this so i get the job done. We did this for about 1 hour. Also just having trash on the ground when other people from SJUSD over on school doesn't look good.

Day Two: The second day me, hingano, and others got to put the tan bark into the chicken coop to help them not walk around on dirt. We cleaned up the tan bark and dirt that was all over the place/ to make the path look more neat. Also we picked up any trash that was in that area as well.

Garden CleanUp #4













 This was my last garden cleanup ever and I had a lot of fun and it was a great experience to have. I got to work with my friends and accomplish something . It showed me what I can expect as a job and what hard work is . It really did leave great memories in my mind . I helped clean up the garden beds and cut the grass off the beds. In conclusion , this year was very fun because of these garden cleanups and I would love to do it again but unfourtantely i won't have this class next year anymore .

Garden Clean Up #4

This is my last time ever doing garden clean up and in the time I did it. I learn that some trees and plants need more water then others. And if we don't help this world in our own way it could start to die either very fast or slow and we don't want that. All I know is that garden clean was not easy and is not easy.By helping the chickens and the plants. But in this time of working I had a lot of fun with friends and the plants. I am glade I did garden clean up other then building or making something because in this project you ready had to get your dirty.

     I decided to do garden cleanup this semester because the murals were getting expensive, and I wanted to do something that would allow for some finals study time. Me and my friend ended up having to go twice, for an hour each time. We helped tend for the chickens, then we watered all the plants to keep them alive, we also helped our friend Andrew dig holes for some trees he was planting.

     We hooked up the hose to the wall and then connected it to a pipe along the fence. We then watered all the plants, cleaned the bricks, and added food and water for the chickens.  Andrew was planning to plant some trees, so we dug the holes for him. It was tough, because there was a large rock in the way, but luckily for us, Andrew is a master gardener, and helped us out. Below are pictures of the trees after planting.

Staffny's Garden Cleanup

For the first day of garden cleanup, I watered the plants in the plant beds, the trees and the plants in pots. I also helped water the compost piles. On the second day, I watered any remaining plants that needed water and watered some more compost piles. I also helped deconstruct a long wooden box into 4 parts.

Garden Clean Up #4

           In this last and final garden clean up my team and I had two important jobs that we had to do. The first thing we had to do was to clean up the walk way for the vegetables garden. The second item we had to do was to remove every single dead plant that we saw on our way. The reason why this project was important was because we had visitors scheduled to come to our school. We had to make the garden look extra clean. This was a really important job for my team and I and this wasn't going to be an easy job because we had to get everything done in two days.         
There was a total of 6 of us in the team. We decided to split in two groups to get the work done. Four of us worked on the walk way including me. The other two team members worked on removing the dead plants.  The walk way was made of dirt and it didn't look fresh enough. We had to go get fresh new dirt so it can look beautiful. We had to walk all the way around the parking lot to get the new dirt and back. We had to use to shovels and two wheelbarrows to move the dirt from one place to the other. The other two team members had to wear gloves to remove the dead plants. The reason they had to wear gloves was to protect their hans from any thorns. This project took us 2 days to complete but we finish it on time.

Garden cleanup

When I did the garden cleanup, I help water the plants and pull out some weeds off the ground. I did the garden cleanup before so it wasn't really a surprise. But all the things I did I did it by myself. The reason why I pulled out the weeds was because they made the garden look a bit messier than usual and we had the fourth graders from Booksin coming for the BioSITE days. Also some of the students were growing their own plants in the garden and I had to water them for the day. I had to put my finger on the water for it to spread around and get all of the plants. Think of it as artificial rain.

For garden cleanup, I watered the plants that were dry and the ones that were newly planted. I also watered the plants that were in the  pots. I also broke apart a old plant bed into 4 pieces. I helped water the compost piles. On the second day, I  watered any remaining plants and compost piles.

Garden clean up #3

  I have helped a lot in the garden. This is the 3rd time I help in the garden clean up. In this two days I have helped remove weeds and also I have helped on watering the vegetable plants and trees. This was a great experience because I have tried something new that I have never done before.  The garden had lettuce, cabbage and peas.

  I think this was a great experience for me because I worked with a different team and we all worked at the same paste getting things done. This project was hard to do but it was also lots of fun because I worked with my friends and we all got along.  I had new challenges going on my way while I was working these two days. While we were watering the plants my friends and I were fixing the sticks that holds up the tree because they were bending. We have improved this because the tree was about to fall down. After we finished fixing the tree holders we started to work on the weeds so the garden can look nice.

Christian's Spring Garden Cleanup 1st day

Me and my brother have a Garden Clean up in last week. We did was just remove all the weeds in surrounding on the plants in the plant bed. Maybe so hot because the sun so really hot but it's okay because my body practicing. So all the weeds is put in the inside in plant bed. Because Mr Bursch. He wants to be clean in this area so we are finish and clean all the weed and the other trash. That's it.





Christian's Spring Garden Cleanup 2nd day

In 2nd day of Garden Clean Up it's just continue to remove weeds in this surroundings of plant bed. Hopefully the other students they do it this project because is so fun and i like to remove the grass, weeds or etc. Take care of the environment so that no illness can be found. This is my experience since I was young.

     In the two hours of our Garden Clean up, all we did was just to remove all the weeds that intervene all the plants in the plant bed in their appearance. As we did it, we used gloves to removed those weeds and too much splinters were entering our gloves that hurts our hands (that makes me slow for what I am doing). We also removed big weeds and we used the wheelbarrow to transfer it to a pile near the shed. And once again, the garden became so clean (not necessarily to be clean but somewhat describes that lessen the dirtiness). 

Hugo Waterfall‘s Spring Garden Cleanup #4

     What my peers and I did in the garden for this session was clearing all of the pathways of weeds and other invasive plants. We pulled up the small weeds from the ground and placed them in the garden beds for the plants there to use. With the really large weeds, we brought in a wheelbarrow and transported them all to a pile near the shed (seen in picture to the top-right). This was so the garden beds didn’t become too crowded and end up restricting the plants’ well-being. All in all, we made the pathways easier to traverse and generally cleaner for the elementary schoolers when they have their meeting (seen top-left). We also helped the plants in the garden beds thrive with the pulled weeds.
