Garden cleanup

I worked in the garden for about 2 weeks and cleaned up for a total amount of 2 hours. During that time I had cleaned up the trash around the school and cleaned up weeds out of the ground. The next thing I did was take out all the brassica plants in the garden and I think this project was good because it taught us we need to take care of the environment we live in

Garden clean up

For my end of the year project I did garden Cleanup where I had shoveled fresh mulch and replaced the old mulch in the garden.
For my the end of my second semester ESLP project, I chose to do 2 hours of garden cleanup. On the first day, a group of me and two other were asigned to chop up various plants so that they can evntually be composted. On the second day, me and a larger group of people were chosen to dipose of worn out mulch and replacing it with fresh servings from the piles just outside of the garden. During this time, I was able to learn the importance of maintenance and a good work ethic and to work as a team when it comes to big projects.

We began by shoveling mulch from a large pile in the parking lot into wheelbarrows, and then proceeded to move it to designated areas in the garden. This mulch mostly consisted of wood chips, and will benefit the garden by not only making it look nicer- but also preventing weeds/unwanted plant growth, sustaining surface moisture, and creating more fertile soil. Our next task was to pick up trash. This is simply to keep the garden clean, healthy, and looking its best. Our last task was to cut down the unwanted plants (but leave the roots) and spread them out over the soil, which was tedious but will overall have a large benefit.

Garden Cleanup

For my the end of my second semester ESLP project, I chose to do 2 hours of garden cleanup. On the first day, a group of a few others and I worked to move dry mulch and spread it over various areas of the garden that needed it. On the second day, I picked up trash and cut down dead plants so that they could become healthy again. During this time, I was able to learn the importance of maintenance and a good work ethic.

ESLP Garden Cleanup June 2017 - Nate Wright

For my June 2017 and final Ecology Service Learning Project, I once again helped with a garden cleanup. This time was a bit different, as I did my whole project solo. In total, I spent my two hours of garden work by first pruning the rosebushes growing along the outside fence. The roses are pretty, but the thorny overgrowth was causing difficulty opening the chicken coop "gate" and entering. I took some gardening clippers and went to town on the bushes and cleared a path clear through to the chicken house, which I would need to use later.
Next, I took a shovel and pitchfork and entered the hen house to do the long overdue job of breaking up and shoveling out the hard compacted dirt/chicken feces, then replacing it with mulch. This made the whole hen house nicer and more sanitary, as well as providing some soil nourishment with the mulch.

Marco Parra- Garden Cleanup 2nd Semester-   I done 2 and a half hours of garden cleanup on May 17 and May18. Me(Marco), Gerardo,Alma, Louie cleaned up the dirt located behind mr bursch classroom and brought it to the main parking lot by the grass. The next day, I helped and brought dirt to the plants by the stairs next to the cafeteria and put compost on the dead trees.
