Garden Clean up

For the Eslp project i picked garden clean up. I pulled out weeds around that were around some plants. I also pulled weeds out where the x wing is so that it could later look nice and clean.

Dylan Wagner Garden Cleanup

For the garden cleanup ESLP project, I went for 75 minutes on one day, and 45 minutes the next. I weeded and spread mulch out by the bathrooms. On the second day, I spread mulch out in two of the square plant pods near the table of the elements in the ground. I made the school look nicer, neater, and cleaner. I have pictures from the first day of weeding that I did with Danil, Gabby, and Ana.

Yordi's seed story

1)What have you learned?
I have learned the life stages of what a plant goes through and how they become a new seed through photosynthesis.

2)What surprised or amazed you?
What surprised me was how my plant hasn't died yet.

3)What made you laugh?
Nothing really.

4)What made you pause and think deeper?
How fast the seed grew in such a small time with just water and little sun light.

In my classmates experience of the assignment the story of a seed project Yordi mostly knew the process of what was going to happen but he was amazed to see how fast the plant grew without sun light and he also learn and understood how a plant becomes a seed again and the parts of photosynthesis and he was also surprised when he found out his plant wasn't dead. Also nothing really made him laugh.

Mateo De La Cruz Garden Clean up #2

For my project I did garden clean up. I helped out for 2 hours, I worked 1 hour for 2 days. I helped by cleaning up leaves from the parking lot and putting them in a certain area. I also swept mulch off of the walkways and into where it is supposed to be. I also evened out the compost piles and cleaned them up.

Subhan Khan Garden Clean Up #2

For my project I chose garden clean up. I did it for 1 hour for 2 days. I stayed for 2 hours total. The first day, I pulled out the weeds. Now it's clean and there are no more weeds. For the second day I put soil on the trees. Now there is soil. Now the garden is clean.

Maya Lewis Garden Clean-up

For my science ESLP project, I did garden cleanup. I learned how to weed, and how each plant plays a very valuable role in the environment. I did garden clean up for an hour on November 29th and December 1st. I weeded, cut grass around TSOTS plants, spread mulch, and took out grass around the fence area. This helps the school and the environment because more plants will thrive. Spreading mulch helps soil around the plants, thus helping the plants grow. I learned a lot more than expected.

Abel Spackman Garden Clean-Up

For my second ESLP project, I did garden clean-up for one hour on November 29 and one hour on December 1st. On November 29, I cut grass around the TSOTS plants and pulled out weeds. That helps the program because it allows the plants to better grow and thrive. On December 1st, I cut more grass, pulled more weeds, took out grass near the fence, and spread mulch. This helps the program because more plants will thrive and because of the mulch spread behind the X-Wing, the soil is richer and will allow plants to grow there in the future. I ended up learning a lot more than I expected from helping with the garden-clean-up

Sam Albert Garden Clean Up

I worked in the garden for my second ESLP. We worked November 29 for one hour and December 1 for one hour. We did the same work for both of the days. We cut grass and pulled weeds around the Story of the Seed plants, and were careful to not pull any of them up. Overall, we weeded by the fence, around two or three of the garden beds, and on the outside of the beds. This benefits the plants by giving them less competition for space and resources, and allowing them to grow more. It also makes the garden look nicer.

Katarina Myers Garden Cleanup

For my second ESLP project, I did garden cleanup on November 29th and 30th for 50 minutes on the 29th and 70 minutes on the 30th. On the 29th, we weeded and cut grass around our story of the seed plants. This helps the garden program by allowing plants to have less competition when they’re growing. On the 30th, we weeded and spread mulch around the plants behind the X wing. This also eliminates competition and helps to make the soil richer in nutrients so that we can plant more on that plot later. I learned a lot from this experience of helping to clean up and maintain the garden.

Garden Cleanup Nick Fordyce

For my second ESLP I chose to do garden cleanup. I chose this because I wanted to clean up the garden to make it better and I felt it would be fun. I did garden cleanup on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. On Tuesday I only did 30 minutes because I had to leave early, but on that day I picked weeds out of the sides of the garden for the whole time. On Wednesday, I was there for 1 hour and did most of the same thing. I picked weeds and took a variety of tings to the compost. On Thursday, I did another 30 minutes to wrap up my time and this time I did something different. I took the mulch to a garden by the Mickey Long Center. I feel I learned a lot about gardening from this project and about gardens.

ELSP project Garden Clean Up

Garden Clean Up

For my 2nd round of the ELSP project I did the Garden Clean Up again. Garden Clean up is when we clean up the garden we have in the Z-wing of the high school and we have a chicken coop and garden beds which have growing plants for the story of the seed project that we are doing in Mr. Bursch's class. We have to clean up the garden for 2 hours so what I did was pick up mulch from the parking lot for about 45 minutes and distributed the mulch around the school like the around the palm tree in the Q-wing and in the little trees in the X-wing. Distributing the mulch took around 25 minutes. Then we moved a bit of compost around so it would pile up nicely which took like 10 minutes. Then for the rest of m time I shoveled up fallen leaves from trees and made a compost for it which took the rest of my 2 hours.

Biosite blogpost#1

In bio-site how we prepared for it by going in everyday for tutorial and trying the different labs that we would conduct with the kids such as the bean lab and the time line of compost and for the last couple of times we made or group that was me,Emilliano and Elizabeth we prepared by seeing what was in our backpack and we got the time line lab and the FBI lab and how we prepared was by running the labs and estimating how much time it would take on average around 17 minutes and we got 20 minutes so we had 3 extra so that would give us time to ask them if they had any questions and it would also make time for us to know them better or what they like to do.

Garden Cleanup Ian Gill

On the two days I worked an hour each, I shoveled mulch into wheelbarrows and delivered it to three plant beds. I put mulch in the two small beds between the W and X wings and the bed between the X and Y wings. Th mulch I put in the beds will help the plant grow better and stronger. It will keep water in. keep out weeds, and keep the soil cool.

Biosite

My name is David and today I am going to be talking about my experiences with doing Bio-site first of all teaching fourth graders was the best because it was fun and the cool part was that we got to miss fourth period but the first time we did this we failed badly at teaching the fourth graders were getting crazy and they getting distracted not paying attention. The second time it was also kind of a failure but then we kind of new what we were gonna say then the third time it was a bit better. Then the next time we did bio-site it was really easy because we actually new what we doing. The first group was easy the next group was a breeze then the last one was a piece of cake so defiantly the second time we did bio site was very easy and we didn't have any trouble doing it so would I do this again defiantly all in all this activity was really fun

Garden Cleanup Fall project 2

For my second Ecology Service Learning Project, I decided to do garden cleanup again. For the first day I only did about 30 minutes for the first day. I helped with the compost area, for the first few minutes. Then, after that I helped cleaning up in the parking lot, in the middle of the parking lot. I took out one of the visible weeds in the mulch there. This helps create space for other plants to grow in the mulch. For the next day I did 1 hour and 10 minutes, and I cleaned the chicken excrement from the chicken coop. This overall helped with the smell of the chicken coop. Also, I helped in adding more of the weeds and some of the chicken excrement in the compost pile. This helps add more waste for the worms to make into soil in the compost area. Then, for my last day, I did only 20 minutes of work. I helped out with 2 others near the middle school side to find and dig out the boundaries of the grass near the Mickey Long Center. All this does is make the grass look a bit cleaner than before. It makes it look very clean without all the grass going over the border of the area.

ESLP Garden Cleanup Project Report: Ana Montero

Hi, my name is Ana Montero. I am in 6th period Biology and this is my ESLP Garden Cleanup Report. I decided to do Garden Cleanup because last time it was very fun and didn't take much creativity. It also did something for the school that didn't require me to get insanely dirty or ask for special permissions. I decided to split my time between two days with one hour intervals.
Day one of the project I moved bricks and picked up trash. The moving of the bricks was very hard as I am not very strong and had to lift the bricks and drop them over the fence. After I was able to get all the bricks out I had to load them up and move them over toward the compost piles. Man did it hurt! I loaded up the bricks into an already heavy wheelbarrow and pushed it over toward the compost piles. Once they were over there I carefully stacked them up and went along to picking up trash. The trash was very small and very hard to see, so it took a while to get going but once I got into a rhythm I was able to make it go by really quickly. All in all day one was very successful.
Day two of the project I helped a group pull out weeds. It was very long tiring work but we made it go by very quickly. The weeds came out very easy if you got under the root so two people pulled the weeds and handed them to the others who plopped them in bins and carried them over. After the weeds were gone we got some people to bring over mulch to fill the newly de-weeded patch. We then spread out the mulch and after it was all done we were finished. Day two? Success!

Today me Adam and osmar picked up bark and spread it throw out the whole chicken area. It was kindda hard getting bark and spreading it but it was fun. I finished my 2 hours of garden clean up. I. Also finished my 2 blog spots for the 2 hours I did.

What I did today was pretty interesting, i was scooping poop on the chicken coop and i was just cleaning around there coop. And after that i was picking up trash from the garden and then we were done for today for an hour and then we pick up all the equipment that we use. Then we came back the next day to finish our other hour that we needed to finish garden clean up,and then we puts some gloves and started seeing what we can work on.Then we saw that we needed to put tan bark and dirt around the free run chicken coop, and then me and my friend Adam and Aron got some gloves and buckets and then we walk to the parking lot a scoop some tan bark and dirt and we filled them up and that what we did back and forwards. After that we all headed back to the chicken coop and we started to spread the molch everywhere because the old molch was already old so we put new ones on. So in conclusion this project was a success and it was helpful to the garden because we cleaned the garden so it could be nice and clean.

So today for my garden clean up project my friend and Osmar did the chicken coop. What we did for the project was cleaned the chicken coop by scooping up some chicken poop. After that i just cleaning around the garden and found some pieces of trash and found the tool equipment so i just started to put everything back where it belonged. Then after that me and osmar went to the parking lot and we started digging the tan bark mixed with the dirt mixed in and we started loading them in a wheel barrow then whoever had the wheel barrow went next to the shed where the chickens were and we helped them unload the stuff out and started to pack it in to mix it with the other stuff that was there. Then the next day we came Mr. Bursch assigned me and Osmar and Aron a job the consisted with the chickens and we scooped the dirt into little buckets then we got the buckets again and started dumping them out in the chicken coop because all the other dirt and stuff was getting old so we put the new molch. Then after that Osmar, Aron and I cleaned up the tools and put them back. Overall this was a fun project because it benefited the garden because we cleaned it up to make it nice and clean.

Garden Cleanup

For the garden clean up I was pulling out plants that were once alive plants so that the new plants could grow better. I also cleaned out the wood and trash behind the shed. I was picking up wood looking pieces from a pile that I was adding to the soil. It was a really good experience helping in the garden. The garden now looks much better with plants.

Garden Cleanup

For the Garden Cleanup, the main project that I worked on was cleaning out and reorganizing the shed.  The whole process took about two and a half hours to fully complete with the help of my three other classmates, Nathan, Chase, and Ben.  At the beginning of the cleaning, the shed was in massive disarray.  Wood and buns everywhere, sand and soil scattered across the floor and massive bags of already opened soil and sand bags.  So what we did first was remove everything from the shed.  The only part that wasn’t removed was a bunch of scrap wood that was already in a good position.  After everything was cleared out and the floor was clean, we continued by putting everything in a nice place.  When we had finished we noticed that the wheelbarrows had many things in it that shouldn’t be there so the next visit, we reorganized so parts and put the wheelbarrows in the proper place.

garden clean up

I worked today on a services project for Mr. Bursch for biology i worked out on the garden  and cleaned the wood chips, pick up the trash. Feed the chickens. Also this helps the  garden be clean and it help the environment and it helps the campus look better. Also i learned that the chickens don't need a male for them to lay eggs.

Garden Cleanup Dylan Wagner

For my ESLP I did the garden cleanup. Most of the time I was shoveling mulch into wheelbarrows and buckets. However, for the last 30 or so minutes, I took buckets of mulch back and forth from the chicken coop. I helped to make the garden cleaner and nicer, and I also brought a good attitude to the work site. I contributed 100% of my effort to making the garden a more inviting and better looking place. I spent two hours working on garden cleanup and am proud of my work.

garden clean up

On October 12 I was helping clean up the garden. What i did was i watered the plants and i helped my friends move the mulch from the parking lot to the specific place. We also made the garden look really nice. we wet the tanbark so it could change colors and make the garden look nice.

                  The Garden Clean Up

For the garden clean up I was in the parking lot cleaning up all the mulch on the ground and I was helping put all of the mulch in the buckets and delivering them. Everybody else was helping in many other ways either watering the mulch with the hose or transporting all of the mulch with the wheel barrow.

for my ESLP i helped clean up after school for 2 hours on october 12 moving mulch pile where its supposed to be watered plants and cleaned up.

Garden Cleanup

For my project I did garden cleanup. I learned a lot from this experience of doing garden cleanup. I mulched for 2 hours. Doing garden cleanup is harder then people think. It takes a lot of time and effort. We (me and the people who were helping when I was there) put mulch down all over the garden from the start to past thi chicken coops. For mulching you first have to scoop tan bark in a bucket and fill the bucket with tan bark. Then you pore the bucket of mulch on where it needs to be pored and refill the bucket. You have to evenly spread the mulch to. I also cleaned the back of the shed where there was a lot of dirt and trash left there. This was a good experience in the end because you get to learn how to work with a garden so if you ever have one in the future you will know what to do

Garden clean up season 1 2017-2018 school year

for  my garden clean up, i have done an amazing job of making a  decompose pile off of stuff like dirk, mud and weed. for two day a had working at the garden clean up i and my team has stack a huge  decompose pile include water. working at the garden clean up not only to do and finish what you have to but it also knowing how fun it is to actualy make something or do something outside and achived this kind of sucsess.

Garden Clean by Elias Gracia

Garden Clean up

For my ELSP project i choose to do the garden clean up because it seen fun and easy. I workd for 3 days in the garden. On the first day, i choose to water the plants in the garden. I was pretty proficient on watering the plants in the garden, especially the plants from the “story of the seed” project. Mid-way of watering the plants, I was told to water the compost and the mulch because there old and somewhat dry. When I was done with that, I just when inside the chicken coop and played with the chicken. On that day, My contribution to the garden was to sustainthe plants from de-hidrasion and making more compost for the garden so the plants could have fertilizer and so they can grow better.
On the second day of doing the garden clean up, I did the same thing, water the plants and water the compost, but in the third day, there was so many people that post- poned there projects, but I still worked on the garden. For the first 30-ish minutesi was watering the plants, then I gave that priority to someone that needed to to something and that moved me to compost Duty. There wasn’t enough material because they used them up the 2 days before so I just watered it some more and wanted te mulch. When I was done watering the mulch, I moved it around so it could full up the space to the limit. After doing that I help out yordi with moving the mulch inside the chicken coop.

Garden clean up

So for my project I decided to do the garden clean up. I chose to do this because it’ll benefit me and the garden. This project will benefit me and the garden because I learn how to do gardening jobs and it’ll benefit the garden because I will be cleaning up any garbage that anyone leaves behind or that people don’t see. So basically what I did was clean up the garden which was better than I thought. First I shoveled some tan bark into containers then after that other fellow students helped and for a barrel and we loaded them up with tan bark. After that we brought the barrels and then dumped them by the piles behind the shed. After that we shoveled the tan bark so it was nicely organized and not all messy. Thirdly I decided to help a fellow student and help them water the trees and plants so they grow and that they are healthy. Fourthly a student named Edwin shoveled up some tan bark and handed it to me in a mini bucket and then I dumped it in the chicken coop. Lastly all of the students including me helped put all the tools back in the shed and just maked sure that everything was nicely organized.

Here are some pictures that I took of the garden

Garden clean up

Hello my name is David Sanchez and in this project we managed to clean up a whole bunch of dirt during our two hours this dirt was moved to a different location where it didn’t take up as much space. Then we used the left over dirt to fill in new holes that the chickens had made all this was a bunch of fun because we all worked together as a team. What we did may not seem like a big deal but I think it did help in the end everyone who helped in the garden clean up or something different helped improve the garden. Here are some pictures on what we did to get rid of the dirt.

Shed Clean-Up ESLP

Shed Clean-up ESLP Fall

For the Fall ESLP project, assigned by Mr. Bursh, my group decided to clean-up the garden. My group consisted of Chase Lyles, Nate Ferrari, William Mahnke, and me. We also decided that we would be cleaning and organizing the garden shed in particular. The team chose this because we knew that throughout the entirety of the school year, the shed would be used variously to store garden materials. Also that in the rest of the garden projects we attempt, a clean shed would help tremendously. Personally, I do have good experience in cleaning out small and cramped areas, especially ones that deal with tools and plant storage. For example in fourth grade, my class worked in the garden almost every week and my helping job was to keep the shed clean and safe. This project took about one week to finish, the days we cleaned-up were the 27th and 29th of September. The first day we worked for about 2 hours and the second for 30 minutes. All in all this project was super fun and was very satisfying when the job was completer and the shed looked spotless(not exactly).

The first 30 minutes of the cleanup process was probably the hardest because the shed was a complete
mess and we had to take everything out first. So the group cleared out the entire area of the shed and started to map out where each and every material went. We decided that the planks of wood would stay where they were(On the side of the left wall) and just put them more neatly. Next, I placed the tools, like the shovels and brooms, on the right wall where they were nicely stacked next to each other. After that, the we placed all of the pots on top of each other in the front because they are probably the most used garden materials. Finally, we finished off the day by just throwing all of the unused items on top of everything and thinking that was fine(It was not fine at all).  Then we left and knew that we had made a huge impact on what it was before we came to help.

The next day we made a few touches to the shed and went to show Mr. Bursh our final product. He said that there needed to be a few major changes: Firstly, the soil and sand that we had just thrown on the floor needed to be moved to the back because it is not used and unwanted. So we made that change, and were told that the wheel barrows need to be at the front and tilted up because they were used a lot. Following that, Mr. Bursch told us a few minor problems that we fixed instantly and a few little movements that needed to be made. In conclusion, this project was a great thing to accomplish and I am looking forward to doing many more of these over the course of the school year.

Garden Clean Up

My task was to help clean up the garden. Me and a few other people were assigned to move mulch and spread it across certain parts of the garden to help out plants. What I did in the garden was shoveling mulch and spreading it around boxes. At one point we were so efficient we could fill a wheel barrel up in two minutes and have the next one come as the other is finished. The plants benefit from the mulch by absorbing nutrients the mulch has to offer, helping them grow. The Team was 6 people ( Me and another shoveling, 4 using the wheel barrels and spreading mulch). we were an effective team for the mulch and plant

Antonioś Garden Cleanup Experience

Hi my name is Antonio Arcoraci. I go to Willow Glen high school.Yesterday did the service project in Mr. Bursch  class for 2 hours. yesterday me and some help of the other kids did the old mulch what we did was load 2 wheelbarrow of the mulch and take it to the compost place. We did so much we made a lot of space by the teacher parking lot when we were done with. The old mulch we got started on the wood chips we load the in a bucket and take them to the garden and spread them out into the garden. When we were done with the wood chips we cleaned up the wood chips and me made a smaller pile. The pile decreased so much you can fit two more parking spots in the teacher parking lot. When we were done cleaning up we put the the garden tools back in the shed then we all returned to the classroom to give Mr. Bursch our e-mails or to get our backpacks. In conclusion we all did our 2 hours including me and ¨The garden looks the best shape it has ever been in¨ said Mr. Bursch.

Garden Cleanup Report: Ana Montero

Hi, my name is Anastazia Montero. I am in 6th period Biology and this is my Garden Cleanup Report. I decided to do garden cleanup as my after school work as I was not feeling very creative and was pressed for time. I decided to work one hour intervals over two days.
Day one of the project I worked with a team to sort out wood scraps from behind the shed and clean out the side of the shed. At first work was slow, nobody could figure out how to get one of the large pieces and we were very unproductive, then it sped up once we pulled out some smaller parts. The wood was bulky and heavy, taking two to four people to pull it out and transport it out from behind the shed. After it was all out we split into two groups, one to clean out the side of the shed and one to sort the wood. I worked a little bit on each team, sorting for the first half and cleaning for the other. At the end we had sorted out the wood and took the unusable pieces to be thrown away, as well as the garbage from behind the shed.
Day two I helped spread out dry mulch around the garden. The work was messy, getting in my eyes and all over my face, but I pulled through just like the rest of the group. I transported the mulch in a small black bucket and walked back and forth around the fence, carrying the bucket. After the hour, we as a team filled out the garden with mulch and completed the intensive job.

Danil's report (garden cleanup)

My name is Danil Iermakov, I have 6th period biology with Mr Burch. For ESLP I decided to work on mulch and we moved it to a different place. I worked a 2 hours and 30 minutes for two days. With the brown mulch we moved it to the compost pill. The bigger mulch we moved it to bottom path ways. On are second day we mostly worked on the brown mulch. We  mostly used a wheelbarrows to move mulch around.  These work would help a places in the garden, like the compost, the chicken coup, and the garden. We had a lot of fun it teaches us the fondle mantle duty's to are Earth. To clean and make the world a better place for everyone.
